K14 SWIFT Beamline Kirkpatrick-Baez Mirror System for Diamond Light Source

Diamond Light Source (DLS), located on the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, is a world-leading facility enabling researchers from academia and industry to investigate matter at the atomic and molecular level. As part of the Diamond-II upgrade programme, this contract involves designing, supplying, manufacturing, assembling, testing, delivering, installing and commissioning a two-mirror Kirkpatrick-Baez (KB) focusing system for the K14 beamline's second end-station. The system will comprise: a horizontally focusing mirror (HFM) for horizontal beam deflection, a vertically focusing mirror (VFM) for vertical beam deflection, both with associated mechanics and monochromatic beam optics; a vacuum vessel and support frame; temperature monitoring and interlocking systems; interfaces to beamline services; and installation of mirrors in their benders at the DLS Optics Metrology Lab. Successful bidders must also provide training to Diamond personnel on system operation. This contract is part of a transformative upgrade that will enhance speed, spatial resolution and user access to advanced instruments for life and physical sciences research.
