Paul's Arm Bridge Conservation and Heritage Repair Contract

Derbyshire County Council is seeking an experienced specialist conservation and heritage contractor to carry out comprehensive repairs and reinstatement work on Paul's Arm Bridge located at Shipley Lake Reservoir in Heanor. The works are essential to maintain the bridge's structural integrity and include: site clearance; reconstruction of missing downstream (southeast and southwest) wingwalls and pilasters using matching ashlar stone masonry; repointing of the masonry arch barrel, arch face, and wing walls; cleaning of brickwork and stone masonry; removal of graffiti; removal of the existing downstream parapet; installation of new upstream and downstream parapets; de-vegetation of masonry and surrounding wingwall areas; and resurfacing of the existing tarmac track. This is a specialized heritage project requiring expertise in traditional stone masonry, arch conservation, and historic bridge repair techniques. Contractors should demonstrate relevant experience with similar listed or heritage structures and possess appropriate qualifications in conservation and heritage restoration.
