3G Artificial Turf Pitch Replacement Project at Cardiff University

Cardiff University is seeking supplier input through early market engagement for the replacement of artificial turf surfaces at its Sport Fields in Llanrumney. The project involves removing the existing 3G pitch and warm-up area, inspecting the base construction, supplying and installing new 3G artificial turf surfaces, applying sports line markings, and completing testing and commissioning. The successful contractor will be responsible for ensuring all installations are fit for purpose and suitable for intensive university, community and performance sport use. Deliverables include removal and disposal of existing materials, potential base and shockpad assessment, supply and installation of replacement 3G pitch and warm-up area, sports line markings, full testing and certification, warranties, maintenance guidance, operation manuals, and handover of all compliance documentation. Cardiff University is conducting this pre-market engagement to understand supplier experience, identify potential risks, refine specifications, and develop the final tender strategy and commercial model. A guided site visit will be held on 12th August 2026 at 2pm, limited to 2 attendees per supplier. Registration closes at noon on 6th August 2026 via the In-Tend portal. Following the visit, suppliers must complete a questionnaire by 21st August 2026. This engagement is voluntary, non-binding, and does not commence formal procurement.
