IT Services for Information Security 2025

The ekom21 - Municipal Regional Computing Center of Hesse is a public law corporation under the Hesse Data Processing Association Act. It serves as the central IT service provider for municipalities and their institutions in Hesse. With locations in Gießen, Darmstadt, and Kassel, it provides comprehensive modern information and communication services to approximately 29,000 end users from local administrations and other public institutions, including counties, cities, municipalities, municipal enterprises, associations, institutions, hospitals, and homes. In the state sector, ekom21 supports numerous state associations, ministries, and government presidencies, delivering services to six million citizens. The scope of services offered by ekom21 is continuously evolving, leading to a steady increase in the number of employees, currently around 850. As part of a joint security initiative by the state of Hesse, the municipal umbrella organizations, and ekom21, the Municipal Cybersecurity Service Center (KDLZ-CS) was established in 2016. The KDLZ-CS provides its services to Hesse's municipalities, supporting counties, cities, and municipalities with the goal of continuously improving information security in the state. This includes offering eLearning for information security and data protection, as well as phishing simulations.
