Chimney Repair and Refurbishment Works - Ballymun, Dublin

Dublin City Council is seeking qualified contractors for comprehensive repair, refurbishment, and upgrade works to a 52-metre reinforced concrete chimney at the Boiler House in Ballymun, Dublin 9. The chimney is part of the Rediscovery Centre campus and was formerly used in the Ballymun District Heating Scheme. Structural investigations and condition surveys have already been completed; contractors will not need to perform structural assessments. The scope of work includes temporary access systems (mast climbers, platforms, hoists), concrete repairs (addressing cracks, spalling, and delamination), reinforcement cleaning and treatment, cathodic protection installation, protective coating application, lightning system removal and reinstatement, asbestos removal (if required), pest control, repainting of red and white banding, and provision of maintenance documentation. Contractors must demonstrate expertise in reinforced concrete repairs, high-altitude work, specialist access systems, and coating applications compliant with Irish and European Standards. The successful contractor will serve as Project Safety and Health Coordinator under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
