North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust is awarding a direct contract for specialized psychiatric intensive care services for a named patient requiring acute mental health treatment. The Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a specialist inpatient ward providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing severe mental health crises. Contract Details: The service is awarded under Healthcare Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 via Direct Award Process B at a rate of £1,022.00 per day for an initial 4-week period (estimated total cost £28,616.00, commencing 24th June 2026). The patient will receive weekday clinical reviews (Monday-Friday) with repatriation to occur when clinically appropriate. This represents a continuation of an established spot purchasing arrangement that previously operated through the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and is now being placed directly by the Trust. Multiple providers are eligible; the Trust is not restricting the number of providers that can deliver this service.
