Winestead Catchment Restoration and Land Management Collaboration

This collaborative agreement seeks to restore and improve land management practices within the Winestead catchment area to reduce flood risk and enhance biodiversity. The project requires: conducting a comprehensive desk-based study and on-site walkover survey to assess topography, land use, drainage patterns, and ecological conditions; engaging willing landowners to identify and implement sustainable land management interventions in flood-prone areas; delivering habitat improvements along the Winestead Drain that align with farm business operations; advising landowners on agri-environment scheme opportunities and sustainable funding options; and building community awareness through engagement with local groups and stakeholder participation. Deliverables include a detailed catchment report, implementation of intervention measures, annual progress reports with visual documentation, and development of community engagement materials. This initiative aims to create a connected network of improved habitats while supporting farmers in adopting environmentally sustainable practices.
