Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner Funding

Barnsley Council Public Health is providing a one-off intervention grant to Compass Be - Services to Improve Health and Wellbeing for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. The grant, funded through suicide prevention allocations, will contribute towards employment costs for a Grade D Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner (EWP) to work within the existing Compass Be service. This practitioner will deliver early intervention emotional wellbeing and mental health support for children and young people across Barnsley. Compass Be is an established specialist service providing preventative, goal-based emotional wellbeing support to children, young people and their families in community and education settings. The service works alongside schools, Early Help, health services and voluntary sector organisations to provide timely and accessible support. This funding increases practitioner capacity within an existing intervention, enabling enhanced support for children and young people experiencing low-level or emerging emotional wellbeing difficulties as part of Barnsley's wider emotional wellbeing and suicide prevention system. This is not a new service commission but rather a contribution to existing delivery.
