Electrical Power Distribution Network Design for Tunnel Construction Site

This opportunity involves designing a comprehensive high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical distribution network to support tunnel construction operations at the Sizewell site. The network must safely distribute power across multiple construction areas including the Tunnel Launch Compound, construction zones, and ancillary areas to serve both underground equipment (tunnel boring machines, slurry systems, ventilation, lighting) and overground facilities (cooling systems, cranes, batching plants, office buildings). The design must comply with current British electrical safety standards and includes four key deliverables: (1) HV network design for the 11kV distribution system with switchgear, cable sizing, routes, and protection settings; (2) Substation design and specification including earthing systems and transformers to convert power to required voltage levels (690V/400V); (3) LV network design for equipment distribution with appropriate switchgear, cable routes, and circuit protection; and (4) Site lighting design to ensure adequate illumination for all construction activities. All designs must be delivered as Stage 4 drawings with schematics and must be coordinated with the site team to ensure compatibility with the wider site electrical infrastructure.
