Metal Processing and Recycling Services for Kent Household Waste

Kent County Council is seeking qualified contractors to process metal waste from 19 Household Waste Recycling Centres across Kent. The contract involves processing both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, with an estimated annual volume of up to 7,000 tonnes split across three regional lots: West Kent (approximately 2,000 tonnes), Mid Kent (approximately 2,500 tonnes), and East Kent (approximately 2,500 tonnes). Bidders may apply for one lot, multiple lots, or any combination. Successful contractors must demonstrate the capability and capacity to handle their contracted tonnage and must operate a permitted waste processing facility equipped with electronic weighbridge systems for material tracking and reporting. Contractors are required to implement policies and procedures that follow the waste hierarchy to maximize reuse and recycling, ensure zero waste to landfill, and maintain robust contingency plans to guarantee service continuity in the event of equipment failure or operational disruptions.
