Dog Kennelling and Rehoming Services Contract

The Council is seeking a qualified provider to deliver comprehensive dog kennelling and rehoming services for a 3-year contract. The service is essential to meet the Council's statutory duty to collect, house, and process stray dogs. The successful provider must: receive dogs of unknown temperament and vaccination status on an ad hoc basis without prior notice; maintain kennelling facilities for approximately 1,000 stray dogs annually; provide prompt veterinary treatment and ongoing medication or care as needed; process dog ownership claims and collect associated Council fees; and take responsibility for unclaimed dogs after the statutory 7-day holding period, arranging either rehoming or humane euthanasia as appropriate. One supplier will be selected for this contract.
