A650 Tong Street Road Widening and Active Travel Scheme

This is a road construction project to widen the A650 Tong Street from single to dual lanes in each direction and improve cycling and pedestrian facilities. The project includes building a new two-way cycle track, upgrading traffic signal junctions with protected crossings for cyclists and pedestrians, converting pedestrian crossings to combined pedestrian and cycle crossings, and installing a new signal-controlled pedestrian and cycle crossing. Associated works include traffic management during construction, drainage improvements, street lighting installation, landscaping, utility diversions and coordination with local businesses and stakeholders. Early contractor involvement is being sought to help shape the final design and delivery approach. The full scope and specifications are still being developed and will be refined through early engagement with the supply chain.
