ScotRail Class 320/4 Rolling Stock Lease Extension

ScotRail Trains Limited is seeking to extend an existing lease agreement with Eversholt Rail Leasing Limited (Beacon Rail) for 12 three-car Class 320/4 passenger trains. The current lease expires on 31 December 2027. The proposed extension covers an additional 5 years, with an optional one-year extension period. The total estimated value of the lease extension, including all optional years, is GBP 31,200,000 excluding VAT. This lease extension is critical to enable ScotRail to maintain reliable suburban passenger services and fulfill its operational obligations while awaiting completion of the new suburban fleet procurement, manufacturing, and commissioning process. The extension represents an interim solution to bridge the gap until new rolling stock becomes available for service.
