Transport Services for Schools and Adult Care

Wigan Council is inviting applications to join its Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for transport services, specifically for home to school transport for children with special educational needs and adult social care transport. This DPS will facilitate the procurement of these services through competitive calls for providers. The DPS is an extension of a previously advertised system and will remain open until February 23, 2029. Existing providers do not need to reapply. Interested suppliers can apply at any time during the validity of the DPS. The transport services required include daily, weekly, or term-time transport for children and young adults with special educational needs attending various educational settings, as well as transport for adults using day care facilities. Clients may have specific needs, such as learning disabilities or physical disabilities, and may require a Passenger Assistant for some journeys. Contractors must be able to provide at least one of the following vehicle options: Standard Car (up to four seats), Accessible Taxi, Black Cab, Minibus (up to eight or sixteen seats), Tail Lift Vehicle (minimum 300kg tail lift), or Coach. The DPS will be the primary method for Wigan Council to procure these transport services, with individual contracts starting based on local needs. Most home to school contracts are expected to run from the start of the Autumn term until the end of the academic year.
