Environmental Data Improvement Project

The National Lottery Community Fund is seeking to enhance its understanding and communication of the various activities undertaken by community organizations that positively impact the environment. This project aims to establish a robust foundation for generating quality data regarding the environmental projects we fund. We are looking for an external supplier, potentially a partnership with specialized expertise, to collaborate with our Evidence and Impact Team and other stakeholders within the Fund. The project will integrate two related workstreams for greater efficiency and synergy: 1. **Environment Projects Typology**: This workstream will develop a common Proof of Concept (PoC) typology for the environmental projects we fund. It will involve reviewing, refining, and testing our typologies using machine learning (AI) to classify the nature of the applications we receive and support. The goal is to propose a robust typology for future use, including strategies for its short- and medium-term improvement. 2. **Enhancing Climate Action Fund (CAF) Monitoring Data**: This workstream will create a Monitoring Framework applicable to current and future CAF-funded projects within our UK Portfolio. It will involve reviewing existing monitoring requirements, identifying future needs, assessing data capture and analysis options, refining and testing existing survey tools, developing an implementation plan, and producing a report on the current knowledge regarding the CAF.
