Conservation Repairs and Repainting of Ripon Town Hall Front Facade

Ripon City Council invites sealed quotations from experienced conservation contractors to carry out interim conservation repairs and breathable repainting to the principal front facade of the Grade II* listed Ripon Town Hall, Market Place South, Ripon HG4 1DD. Scope of Works: The primary quotation covers full-height work to the principal facade, including pre-construction surveys; full-height scaffolding, hoarding and access permits; trial methods for coating removal and cleaning; removal of defective paint and unsuitable coatings; lime-based render, stucco and mortar repairs; application of breathable mineral coating; preparation and redecoration of three first-floor balcony railings; sensitive cleaning and conservation of the painted decorative frieze; and completion records and maintenance information. A separately priced alternative quotation is required for lower-level work only (pavement to underside of first-floor string course). Key Information: Ripon City Council will prepare and submit all planning and listed building consent applications and will pay associated fees. The contractor must provide methods, materials, product information and supporting documentation for consent submissions. Physical works may commence only after consents are obtained and the Council issues written instruction to proceed.
