Oral Health Improvement Service for Blackburn with Darwen

Blackburn with Darwen is seeking a provider to deliver a new Oral Health Improvement (OHI) service that addresses poor oral health and associated health inequalities in the community. Oral health is essential to overall wellbeing and quality of life, yet dental disease remains largely preventable and significantly impacts vulnerable populations. The service will operate on a tiered model: Tier 1 (publicly funded) will focus on prevention for children and young people, extending support to vulnerable adults and older adults in care homes. Tier 2 (ICB-funded) will expand the service across additional settings and to more families. The provider must deliver a flexible, proactive programme working with individuals, partner agencies, and communities to meet local oral health needs and reduce health inequalities across all age groups. The successful service will enable residents to maintain confident eating, speaking, and social engagement while preventing serious health complications linked to poor oral health.
