Ottery St Mary Weir Replacement and Channel Maintenance

East Devon District Council (EDDC) is seeking a contractor to remove and replace a deteriorating weir structure on the River Otter and perform maintenance dredging of the adjacent Mill Leat channel. The existing Head Weir controls water abstraction for the Mill Leat but has deteriorated, causing water to bypass the structure and resulting in insufficient river flow levels downstream. This inadequate flow prevents the Head Weir fish pass and eel pass from operating effectively. The scope of work includes: complete removal and replacement of the weir structure; maintenance dredging of the Mill Leat to restore proper water conveyance; and obtaining all necessary Environmental Permits. This is a water infrastructure and environmental restoration project critical for maintaining fish migration routes and water management systems in the Ottery St Mary area.
