Breastfeeding Peer Support Service for Islington Families

This is an opportunity to establish a community-based breastfeeding support service serving families across Islington. The service will provide flexible support through in-person and virtual options, delivered by a combination of trained volunteer and paid peer supporters. Key deliverables include one-to-one support sessions, group sessions, maternity ward visits, and a dedicated phone line. The primary objective is to increase the rate of exclusive breastfeeding at 6-8 weeks postpartum and maintain breastfeeding rates beyond this period. The successful provider will integrate with Islington's early years system, referring and signposting families to complementary local services as needed. The service must cover the entire borough and aligns with Islington Together 2030 priorities including Child Friendly Islington, Greener Healthier Islington, Empowering People, and Community Wealth Building. A single provider will be contracted to deliver the service borough-wide. Additional grant funding may become available during the contract term to support related services, though this is not guaranteed.
