M4 Junction 17 Improvement Works Contract

Wiltshire Council is procuring a contract for the M4 Junction 17 improvement works, valued at approximately £27 million (including VAT), with contract award expected in early spring 2026. This is a two-phase project: Phase 1 (Spring-Autumn 2026) involves Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), and Phase 2 (2027 onwards) covers construction, subject to Department for Transport Full Business Case approval. The scope includes installation of traffic signals on all roundabout approaches, carriageway widening throughout the junction, increasing traffic lanes across motorway bridges from two to three, and widening the circulatory carriageway.
