    Brief

This contract involves conducting a comprehensive vegetation survey of raised bogs and associated wetland habitats across two site clusters in Northumberland: Sweethope and the Gilsland/Haltwhistle areas. The successful contractor will be responsible for mapping habitat extent and condition, identifying vascular plants and bryophytes to species level, conducting quadrat-based surveys, and collecting supporting environmental data including peat depth, pH, and electrical conductivity. Additionally, the contractor must assess site condition, hydrology, and evaluate the impacts of land management practices such as drainage and burning. The project will deliver GIS mapping, species datasets, analysis tables, and a comprehensive final report meeting Natural England requirements. The contract runs from July 2026 to March 2027, with fieldwork to be completed by September 2026 and final reporting by March 2027. This is an ideal opportunity for environmental consultants or ecological survey specialists with expertise in wetland habitats and botanical surveying.
