Centre for Craft Apprenticeships – Construction and Renovation Project at Dundalk Institute of Technology, Ireland

This construction project involves the conversion and renovation of a protected historic structure and associated buildings at the former PJ Carroll's factory site in Dundalk, Ireland, into a 3,487 square meter apprenticeship training facility. Phase One encompasses modifications to the main factory building, including interior renovations, removal of internal walls, and construction of new teaching and workshop spaces (motor vehicle workshops, electrical workshops, classrooms, and ancillary facilities), along with new roller shutters, facade work, and a mezzanine office level. Phase Two involves comprehensive work on the former boiler house building, including: demolition of a small service structure, roof replacement with a new membrane system, installation of fall restraint and arrest systems with safe access provisions, removal of three obsolete boiler flues, construction of a new timber preparation building on the south side, modifications to an existing garage building with new roller shutters, provision of 10 additional bicycle parking spaces, and all associated site preparation and landscaping works.
