Whole Plant Control System Development for Fusion Energy STEP Project

UK Fusion Energy Ltd (UKFE) is conducting market sounding to identify potential partners for developing a Whole Plant Control System for the STEP Power Plant (SPP). This is a preliminary information-gathering exercise, not a formal tender, designed to assess supplier capabilities and refine technical specifications. UKFE seeks to procure services to: define fusion plant control requirements, identify necessary systems and technologies, and integrate fusion-specific controls with conventional plant infrastructure. As the STEP project represents a first-of-a-kind (FOAK) fusion application, UKFE wants to engage with the market to validate assumptions about fusion control challenges, understand the current technology landscape, and test potential contracting approaches for delivering an integrated whole plant control system. All supplier responses will be treated confidentially and used for market research purposes. Interested suppliers are invited to share insights that may shape final tender requirements and demonstrate relevant expertise in advanced control systems, fusion technology integration, or large-scale plant automation.
