Military Medical Services Research Funding

The Defence Medical Services Research Steering Group (DMSRSG) provides funding and endorsement for medical research projects that have military relevance. Eligible projects must be scientifically rigorous, demonstrate value for money, and focus on medical or healthcare topics. Research can range from foundational science to applied research at any technology readiness level, though early-stage projects must show a clear pathway to clinical or operational impact. The group welcomes qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches. There is no maximum funding limit per application, though the total budget available per funding round is approximately £500,000 distributed across multiple selected proposals. Funding can cover single or multi-year projects. Applicants should submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) aligned with published priority areas. The EOI process is open year-round with no application deadline.
