Subcontractor Expressions of Interest: Sheet Pile Walls for Lower Thames Crossing Roads North

Balfour Beatty is seeking experienced subcontractors to design, supply, and install sheet pile walls for the Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) Roads North programme. This is a significant infrastructure opportunity involving the design and delivery of both permanent and temporary sheet pile wall systems, including cofferdams, for a major new road connecting Essex and Kent. Key Responsibilities: • Provide specialist input during design development with AtkinsRealis, supporting constructability, sequencing, and methodology • Design (where applicable), manufacture, supply, and install permanent and temporary sheet pile systems • Supply all associated components including connectors, clutches, waterproofing, and temporary works systems • Undertake temporary works design including Approval in Principle, design calculations, and liaison with approval bodies • Execute installation works including plant provision, supervision, and construction sequencing • Produce quality documentation including Inspection and Test Plans, as-built records, and handover packs • Coordinate interfaces with earthworks, drainage, structures, and the wider programme Required Capabilities: • Integrated design, supply, and installation solutions for sheet piling • Early contractor involvement (ECI) input to influence design and buildability • Expertise in complex permanent and temporary sheet piling systems • Safe construction management including vibration, noise, and interface risk control • Programme-aligned delivery with strong quality standards Required Experience & Standards: • Proven track record on major infrastructure or highways projects • Temporary works design and management capability (or clear subcontracting model) • Robust health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems • Collaborative experience with Tier 1 contractors and designers • Commitment to carbon reduction, sustainability, and social value aligned to LTC ambitions LTC Programme Commitments: Successful suppliers must demonstrate commitment to LTC's sustainability goals: • Zero emissions solutions with no diesel-powered plant or machinery on site • Local recruitment and workforce upskilling for meaningful career progression • Early careers roles and STEM engagement to inspire young people into construction Deadline: Respond by 28 May 2026 for pre-qualification requirements and tender timelines.
