Fusion Energy Simulation Software Development and Evaluation

This multi-year rolling project establishes standardized analysis and simulation case studies to assess and advance industry simulation software capabilities for fusion energy development. The initiative engages industry partners to evaluate their current software tools, identify capability gaps, and drive targeted development improvements. Case studies cover all technical domains essential to fusion commercialization—including physics, engineering, materials, and safety—incorporating single-domain and integrated multi-domain scenarios using diverse analytical methods. Suppliers of simulation software are invited to participate in validation activities, benchmark their tools against fusion-specific requirements, and contribute to defining the next generation of fusion analysis capabilities.
