Personal Dosimetry and Environmental Radiation Monitoring Service

This is a contract opportunity to provide personal dosimetry and environmental radiation dose monitoring services to GHNHSFT. The successful supplier must be an HSE-approved Dosimetry Service and will be responsible for supplying, distributing, collecting, processing, and reporting on personal dosimeters worn by classified radiation workers across the Authority's site. The supplier must ensure full compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17), including dose assessment, record keeping, investigation of overexposure incidents, and sharing of dose information with the HSE's central index of Dose Information (CIDI). This service is critical for demonstrating that radiation doses are kept as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) and within statutory dose limits. The current contract with RRPPS at University Hospitals Birmingham commenced in August 2021 for an initial 3-year period with a 2-year extension option, and is due for renewal in August 2026. Suppliers must demonstrate comprehensive understanding of radiation protection obligations, relevant legislation, standards, and guidance to support occupational safety for staff, patients, the public, and the environment.
