Brief

This procurement opportunity involves the supply of furniture and equipment for the New Community House in Horsens. The project focuses on transforming the former Town Hall in Horsens into a new community hub that will house attractive functions, including a library, citizen service center, and the Horsens Healthy City volunteer center. The building is designed to attract and engage visitors, promote interactions among people, and support communities around cultural activities, social volunteerism, and other interests. Much of the building's design is inspired by the colorful and playful artwork of Aase and Poul Gernes, which adorns the building. Gernes' visual language and humorous approach will continue to play a central role in the design of the house, which should also be reflected in some of the furniture. The project aims to preserve and integrate the building's history while updating its functionality to meet new needs. Several elements from the original construction, such as bricks and pavements, will be preserved and integrated into the new design. This ensures a harmonious blend of past and present, where modern design meets historical elements without imitation. Most of the house's facilities and functions, such as meeting rooms, will be available for free use by the municipality's citizens. With an expected annual visitor count of around 300,000, durable and robust furniture is required to withstand heavy use by many. The New Community House is set to open to the public in the summer of 2026.
