Laboratory Furniture and Kitchen Technology for Mendelstraße 6

SBH | Schulbau Hamburg, a state-owned enterprise of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, is responsible for planning, constructing, maintaining, and managing school properties while considering educational needs and economic principles. This project involves a significant restructuring of the site at Mendelstraße, including the centralization of technology. The new building will house administrative areas, a multifunctional kitchen for 300-600 students, a cafeteria, and specialized classrooms. The spacious cafeteria and community area with a stage will serve as a gathering place on the ground floor. The upper floor will feature two large compartments, connected by a central staircase with necessary corridors. Heating will be provided through district heating, and photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof. The new construction will receive funding for climate-friendly building (KfN) and aims for DGNB Gold certification. The chosen structural system includes wooden beam ceilings with Delta Beams, which will facilitate construction time and allow for future repurposing and the use of sustainable building materials. The exterior will feature a wooden facade, similar to the adjacent Hamburg classroom building. This opportunity focuses on kitchen technology.
