Brief

NHS England is funding a Radiotherapy Quality Assurance (RTTQA) programme to assess and certify up to 30 radiotherapy providers across England. The programme, delivered by the QA team at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (East and North Herts NHS Trust), will enable safe local delivery of two newly approved treatments: renal Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) for kidney cancer and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) for essential tremor. The experienced RTTQA team will conduct pre-assessment quality assurance of each provider to ensure consistent, high-quality clinical standards and patient safety across all participating centres. This is the sole UK provider of this specialised quality assurance service. Upon completion, eligible radiotherapy providers will be authorised to deliver these complex treatments safely and effectively to patients throughout England. The programme runs for 12 months, commencing 1 July 2026, and builds on the team's proven track record in managing previous SABR and SRS commissioning programmes.
