Market and Economic Research Services for Long-Distance Public Transport

This contract opportunity involves conducting a travel survey for long-distance public transport at railway and bus stations in Finland. The aim is to gather supplementary data for the 2025 passenger transport study, which will be used to develop a national passenger transport model and assess the current state of mobility, including statistics and research work. The survey will be carried out through card surveys or interviews with passengers. The scope and methodology of data collection are detailed in Appendix 1, 'Task Description for Railway Stations.' The project consists of three phases: preparation, fieldwork, and database compilation. All tasks are included in the contract, except those specifically assigned to Traficom. Key aspects of the research include managing data protection and security in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, data protection law, and Traficom's guidelines and requirements. It is essential to minimize the number of personnel handling personal data and to mitigate risks of data breaches. The timeline for the work will be based on the phases, and progress will be monitored in meetings between the client and the service provider's steering group. The project will begin with the preparation phase in spring 2025, and the final phase must be completed by April 1, 2026.
