Water Filtration Equipment for HOFOR in Copenhagen

HOFOR is seeking to implement measures to reduce water discharge into the Gørløse stream, which flows into the Roskilde Fjord, a Natura 2000 area. The goal is to ensure that the discharge from the new facility at Gørløse is reduced to the same level as the existing facility. The project involves the use of ceramic filtration to increase the recycling rate of wash water from filter backwashes. Pilot tests have shown that ceramic filtration effectively reduces water waste by allowing for the reuse of wash water. This is particularly important for the Gørløse facility, which faces significant challenges regarding the volume of water that can be discharged into the nearby recipient. HOFOR is aware of one technology that has been tested on softened drinking water, demonstrating a high recycling rate without clogging. This technology, developed by a consortium of Envidan and Splitwater Nordic ApS, is documented as a stable solution with the required high efficiency and can be designed compactly to fit the available space. Therefore, the consortium's technology has been selected for use at the Gørløse facility.
