Ecological Continuity Restoration Studies in Seine-Maritime

The Seine-Maritime Department is responsible for the maintenance of 5,860 km of roads and their dependencies. It manages this infrastructure to ensure the continuity of the network and its operation for the benefit of users. As an infrastructure manager, the Department has committed to a proactive policy of sustainable management and development of its assets, implementing innovative construction, operation, and maintenance techniques that are environmentally friendly. Reducing environmental impacts is a key focus of this policy, as demonstrated by the local implementation of the voluntary commitment 'sustainable road' agreement signed on January 6, 2012, with the Regional Federation of Public Works (FRTP). The Department has conducted a diagnostic assessment of its 585 road crossing structures over watercourses, identifying several as obstacles to ecological continuity. To address this issue, the Department has committed in its Climate Plan 76, adopted in 2023, to 'ensure ecological continuity of watercourses at the level of departmental roads.' This commitment includes carrying out works for which preliminary studies are necessary. This contract aims to design the improvements, as defined by the Department, for restoring ecological continuity of watercourses at 11 of its structures.
