5G Network Feasibility Study for Lower Thames Crossing

The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is a new road project that will connect Kent, Thurrock, and Essex. This crossing will be approximately 14.5 miles (23 km) long and will include two tunnels under the River Thames, linking the A2/M2 to the M25. As 5G technology is being rolled out across the UK, it offers significant advancements in mobile communication, including faster data rates and improved connectivity for various devices. The construction industry can greatly benefit from 5G by using advanced technologies like autonomous machinery, which can enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Additionally, 5G will facilitate better communication between vehicles and infrastructure, supporting smart traffic management and autonomous vehicle systems. Therefore, LTC is seeking to conduct a study to assess the technical feasibility and commercial viability of implementing a private 5G network to aid in the construction and ongoing operation of the Lower Thames Crossing.
