Brief
The John Innes Centre (JIC) is seeking suppliers for a project that involves the construction of new facilities as part of the Next Generation Infrastructure (NGI) Programme. This initiative aims to enhance the existing infrastructure at JIC and The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL) located in Norwich Research Park, which are renowned for their work in plant and microbial science. The project will address current infrastructure issues and create a state-of-the-art facility that fosters collaboration and innovation, ultimately helping to translate scientific research into practical solutions for global challenges.
The project includes the following key components:
1. Demolition of existing buildings within the Technology Platform 1 (TP1) area.
2. Construction of Scientific Research Glasshouses, including a plant room, with a total area of approximately 4,300 square meters.
3. Development of an Insectary Laboratory Building, covering around 850 square meters.
4. Creation of a Horticulture Store within TP1, approximately 200 square meters in size.
5. Associated external landscaping, drainage, irrigation, and utility services within the TP1 area.
This notice pertains to the award of a Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) for the design of TP1 and the establishment of a contract sum for the complete delivery of the project. The JIC intends to enter into a tailored PCSA with Vinci Construction UK Limited, with the goal of subsequently awarding a JCT Design & Build Contract for the full delivery of TP1, contingent upon satisfactory performance under the PCSA and necessary internal approvals.
The estimated value of the PCSA to be awarded to Vinci is £1,867,132.22 (excluding VAT), while the total anticipated value for the delivery of TP1 is expected to be between £35 million and £40 million (excluding VAT). A further Contract Award Notice will be published by JIC prior to awarding the JCT Design and Build Contract.
