Building Planning Services for School Expansion and New Cafeteria in Sindelfingen

This contract involves architectural services for the expansion of a primary school and the construction of a new cafeteria/auditorium with a kitchen for the Hinterweil primary and secondary schools in Sindelfingen, Germany. The existing primary school, built in 1985, is part of a two-story complex that includes a secondary school and sports hall. Currently, the primary school lacks sufficient space for all-day care and a cafeteria/auditorium, with an estimated need for approximately 1,350 square meters of additional space. A feasibility study conducted by Hettich Architects has estimated the project costs to be around €6.4 million. The proposed plan includes a two-story new building adjacent to the sports hall, with all-day care facilities on the upper floor and a cafeteria/auditorium with a kitchen on the ground floor, to be shared by both schools. A positive preliminary building permit has been obtained, as the new construction lies outside the designated building area and requires access via a public bike and pedestrian path. Additionally, the roof of the sports hall, covering about 1,400 square meters, will be renovated, with estimated costs of €950,000. The project aims to adhere to sustainable and economical construction practices, considering climate protection goals and ensuring the creation of modern, accessible spaces that support flexible educational concepts. The planning services will cover all phases of building planning as per § 34 HOAI 2021 for both the new construction and the renovation of the sports hall roof. The timeline includes awarding the planning services in the second half of 2024, with construction expected to begin in the first half of 2026 and completion anticipated by 2028. Concurrently, additional services for outdoor facilities and technical planning will be advertised.
