Road and Pedestrian Safety Improvements on Walton Breck Road and Surrounding Streets

Liverpool City Council is seeking a supplier to undertake comprehensive highway improvement works on Walton Breck Road, Pulford Street, Gilman Street, and Back Rockfield Road. The project aims to enhance public safety, accessibility, and the overall quality of the public realm through a combination of infrastructure upgrades and traffic management improvements. Key deliverables include: widening footways by narrowing the carriageway to improve accessibility and prioritise pedestrians; implementing traffic calming measures and extending the existing 20mph zone; upgrading footway surfaces with premium materials and creating soft landscaping areas for public realm enhancement; upgrading existing pedestrian crossing facilities and installing a new crossing near Anfield Stadium; resurfacing the existing carriageway; upgrading street lighting and highway drainage infrastructure; formalising on-street parking arrangements including taxi ranks and loading bays; and modifying and improving bus stop facilities. This project supports the council's commitment to creating safer, more inclusive streets that prioritise pedestrian access and community engagement.
